Balm stick

Also known as: Multi balm, stick balm, skincare stick

In short

A balm stick is a solid skincare balm in a twist-up tube that you apply straight to the skin, without fingers. Korean balm sticks, often called multi balms, combine oils and waxes with skincare ingredients and are made for the eye area, lips, face and neck.

Balm stick or moisturiser?

A moisturiser is usually a cream or lotion for the whole face. A balm stick is richer and more targeted: it goes on last, over the areas that feel dry or show fine lines, and slips into a bag for top-ups during the day.

How do you use one?

Twist up a few millimetres, glide it lightly over each area, and tap rather than drag over make-up. Step by step: how to use a multi balm stick.

Frequently asked questions

Is a balm stick hygienic?

Yes, if you look after it. Apply it to clean skin, wipe the top with a clean tissue now and then, replace the cap after use and don't share it.

Can a balm stick replace my moisturiser?

On dry areas, some people use a balm instead of a moisturiser. For the whole face, most people use both: moisturiser first, balm last.
